Alncroft Parson Russell Terrier News

2016

We began 2016 at Boston Championship Show (no CC's) under Richard Allen and Ch Alncroft I Spy 'Sadie' won BOB and was shortlisted in the group under Jeff Luscott.  She also achieved a very creditable 4th in a huge Champions Stakes class under Ian Sexton.

CRUFTS

Another unforgettable day at the World's biggest dog show for Alncroft!  Gwen Small was judging and awarded a first CC and BOB to Sarah and Jamie Broadberry's Alncroft in Tune Ratscallion, handled by Kate as Tag has been residing with us whilst her owner recovers from an illness.  Tag's wins makes it three Crufts BOB wins in a row for Alncroft and four consecutive Crufts Bitch CC's!

Jessica also won the Good Citizen Bitch class with Alncroft In Gold 'Zara' and both Jessica and Amelie had qualified for the YKC Handling finals coming 3rd and 4th respectively in the final!

To top the day off, Jessica was awarded the YKC Artist of the Year 2016 overall winner!!

2015

We were only spectators at Crufts 2015 aside from the Young Kennel Club Handling but we were so incredibly proud to witness Gill Sutton handle her and her husband Martin's Alncroft Maid an Issue at Springbeck (Ada) to the BCC and BOB and with it, her crown under Alan Small!!  To round off a lovely day, Jessica at her first ever YKC handling finals handled her beloved Alncroft In Gold to 4th place and Amelie was awarded first place in her age group of the YKC Artist of the Year 2015!

NATIONAL TERRIER

Gill and Ada continued their winning streak with a 4th CC and BOB under Steph Collis with Sadie (Ch Alncroft I Spy) picking up the RCC.

NATIONAL DOG SHOW

Gill and Ada won the RBCC under Harold Gay and Sarah Broadberry took Tag (Alncroft in Tune with Ratscallion) to her second championship show and having won her class at National Terrier, she went one better this time, winning BPIB.

SKC (May)

Gill and Ada continued their roll with another CC and BOB under Geoff Burnhill with Alncroft In Gold won the Reserve Bitch CC.

SOUTHERN COUNTIES

We had a truly memorable day under Kari Jarvinen with Sadie (Ch Alncroft I Spy) being awarded her 14th bitch CC, BOB and going on to Terrier Group 2 under Johan Juslin!

WINDSOR

We made the long Friday trip to Windsor to go under Max King and were rewarded with the BCC (her 15th) and BOB with Sadie and the RDCC with Brody, her sire (Ch Alncroft Blackthorn)

LEEDS

We enjoyed another lovely day at Leeds under Jan Wood winning the BCC with Sadie (her 16th) and Sarah and Tag winning another BPIB.

We then squeezed a really fun week at the first ever Young Handlers Activity Camp in Lincolnshire.  Jessica and Amelie had a wonderful time with the dogs we took (Bramble Spaniel and PRT Zara), learned lots and made some lovely new friends.  Jessica and Zara also achieved their Bronze award (Good Citizen Dog Scheme)!

WELSH KENNEL CLUB -After the beautiful weather at camp, it was brollies at the ready for Welsh KC. It was worth getting very wet as judge Tom Johnston awarded Zara (Alncroft In Gold) her 2nd CC with BOB and a daughter of hers, Alncroft I ZuZu won BPIB.

SKC (August) under Arthur Cuthbertson, Nicola Liddell had a wonderful day to remember winning the bitch CC with Alncroft Sovereign at Lyonmill!

At City of Birmingham under Jenny Miller (no CC's) Ch Alncroft I Spy was awarded Best Bitch then the following week she was awarded her 17th Bitch CC under Brian Aubrey at Richmond.

We had two days to remember in October...firstly at the Northern PRTC Championship Show.  Ronnie Irving was judging the breed for the first time in over a decade and made our day awarding us the double!  Sadie won her 18th CC with BIS and her sire, Brody (Ch Alncroft Blackthorn) his 9th CC!

At Midland Counties a week later, Stuart Plane awarded us another double giving Sadie her 19th CC and the Bitch CC record and Brody his 10th!

We finished the year with Sadie confirmed as Dog World's Top PRT 2015 and her dam DW Top Brood Bitch in the Terrier Group!  This was down to Sadie, Lexie, Zara and Ada's wins over the year!  Subsequently we were Our Dogs Top Breeders 2015 and Brody once again, for the third year in a row, Dog World Top Stud Dog!  What a year!!

2014

We started this year off with a bang when after a fantastic 2013, Ch Alncroft I Spy (Sadie) won BOB at Crufts under breed specialist Lesley Roberts (Mindlen)! Our eldest daughter Jessica did us proud when she handled Buzz (Ch P. Phantastic at Alncroft) to first place in the veteran bitch class...Thank you to the judge for giving us a day we shall never ever forget!

WELKS - Following Crufts, Sadie won BOB at WELKS under Peter Julian and was shortlisted in a strong terrier group under Luis Pinto Teixeira! The day was rounded off nicely when Jessica won her very first championship junior handling class with Alncroft In Gold (Zara), qualifying her for Crufts 2015! picture below

SOUTHERN COUNTIES - We stayed home but our good friends Martin and Gill Sutton (Springbeck) won the BCC (her first) with Alncroft Maid an Issue at Springbeck (Ch Alncroft Blackthorn x A. Ambleside)!

WINDSOR - Next show for us was Windsor and we had a super day under David Hunt winning BOB with Sadie and the RDCC with her sire, Brody.  Another Brody daughter, Riplington Black Cherry won the RBCC.

We then had quite some break but it was very exciting to hear that Steph Collis made up Riplington Black Cherry (Ch Alncroft Blackthorn x Ch Alncroft Tribute to Riplington) to her title at Bournemouth under Kevin Moore, a moment her dear late mum would have been so proud of.

The break continued for the rest of the year but we made a trip to the PRTC Championship Show (judge Karen Rimmer) with Brody for the Progeny class which he won with his daughters, Alncroft Sovereign at Lyonmill, Ch Riplington Black Cherry, Alncroft Maid an Issue with Springbeck and Coclestane Cinnamon.  Gill and Martin Sutton had a wonderful day winning the CC (her second) and BIS with Alncroft Maid an Issue at Springbeck!

We rounded up the year with Top Stud Dog and Top Brood Bitch 2014 and Sadie as 2nd Top PRT Bitch for the year.

2013

What a year! After an amazing year of shows, we were proud to be crowned Top PRT Breeders, Top PRT, Top PRT Stud Dog and Top PRT Brood Bitch!

We began 2013 a relaxing spectator day at Crufts and what a special day it became... we were so happy to watch our dear friends, the Collis's win the BCC under breed specialist Sheila Atter with Ch Alncroft Tribute to Riplington and another dear friend, Nicola Liddell win Best Puppy in Breed with Alncroft Sovereign at Lyonmill.

WELKS made up our 8th champion owned or bred when Sadie (Alncroft I Spy) won her qualifying CC under Jack Watson and her sire Ch Alncroft Blackthorn won the RDCC.

WINDSOR – Sadie wins her 4th CC (with BOB) under Harold Gay, her full brother George (Alncroft Imperial) wins the RDCC and her half sister , the Collis's Riplington Black Cherry wins the RBCC!

EAST OF ENGLAND – Sadie wins her 5th CC and her full sister, Gill and Martin Sutton's Alncroft Maid an Issue at Springbeck wins the RBCC!

LEEDS – Firsts all round!!! Jessica floated home on cloud 9 when she won her first ever CC (and BOB) aged 7 with Alncroft In Gold (Zara!) under Michelle Barnett and represented the breed in the terrier group... an unforgettable day! We think Jessica is one of the youngest ever handlers in the country to win and CC and BOB and handle in the group at championship level! Not only that but Martin and Gill Sutton's Ada (Alncroft Maid an Issue at Springbeck) picked up another RCC!

BOURNEMOUTH – A sweltering, tiring day at Bournemouth but a tremendous one when we won the double (both dog and bitch CC) under Tom Johnston with Ch Alncroft Blackthorn and Ch Alncroft I Spy! I Spy won BOB...

WELSH KC - Ch Alncroft I Spy wins her 7th CC under Harry O-Donoghue with BOB!

SKC (August) – A memorable day up in Edinburgh making a long journey worthwhile... Brody (Ch Alncroft Blackthorn) wins his 8th CC and Sadie -Ch Alncroft I Spy also wins her 8th CC with BOB under breed specialist Karen Rimmer (Kylini)

RICHMOND – Sadie picks up her 9th CC and BOB under David Shields and shortlisted in the terrier group under Harry O'Donoghue!

DARLINGTON – We wind up 2013 with the CC and BOB with Sadie (her 10th), the RDCC with George (Alncroft Imperial) and the RBCC with Lexie - Alncroft Sovereign at Lyonmill (owned by Nicola Liddell) under Jeff Luscott! Nicola and Lexie also won a fantastic 3rd in a huge Petplan Junior Stakes under Frank Kane!

2012

We had a super day out at our first show since Midland Counties and made the trip very worthwhile with Brody winning his 6th CC (all with BOB) under Paul Wilkinson. Brody's daughters had a good day out too with Alncroft Sovereign at Lyonmill and Alncroft Maiden Issue at Springbeck both qualifying for Crufts on their show debut as puppies. Two other daughters Sadie (Alncroft I Spy) and Dot (Riplington Black Cherry) won 1st in Limit and 2nd in post graduate respectively. (Dot is owned/bred by Di, Syd and Steph Collis out of Ch Alncroft Tribute to Riplington).

After another long break of three and a half months, we went up to Midland Counties in October and had a super day winning the BCC and BOB with Sadie (Alncroft I Spy) and sire Brody winning the RDCC under Ferelith Somerfield! Sadie was shortlisted in the terrier group under Ann Ingram.

East of England Championship show in July was our one and only show in the summer of 2012 and despite the rain Brody won the RDCC and Sadie won her first CC under Zena Thorn-Andrews! Our eldest daughter Jessica made her Champ show debut at the ripe old age of 5 handling Anna Dachshund in the Mini Wire classes, she did us proud!

We kick-started 2012 with a successful Manchester championship show under Mr Kari Jarvinen (Finland). Brody (Ch Alncroft Blackthorn) won the DCC & BOB in good company and his daughter, Sadie (Alncroft I Spy) won BPIB. It was the CC show debut for two of his other daughters out of Cola (Ch Alncroft Tribute to Riplington), Riplington Blackberry and R. Black Cherry owned by Di, Syd & Steph Collis and they won a very respectable fourth in Junior bitch and first in Puppy bitch respectively. Not bad for 6 months old!

2011

PARSON RUSSELL TERRIER CLUB's 15th CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW - Judge - Steph Collis. After a long break from the showring having gone on both human & canine maternity leave, we are now proud parents of daughter number three, Ava! Ava along with our new puppy Sadie (Alncroft I Spy), made their show debut at the Parson Russell Terrier Club's Champ Show and we had a wonderful day to remember when Sadie won both Puppy Bitch classes, the reserve bitch challenge certificate and Best Puppy In Show!

EAST OF ENGLAND - Roger Wright (Rotella) judged the breed and made it 2 CC's with BOB in a row for Brody, a hot, tiring day made well worth it! Zara (Alncroft In Gold) made a success of her debut into Junior bitch a success by winning her class.

SOUTHERN COUNTIES - Michelle Barnett judged the breed and gave us reason to float home when she gave Brody his all-important 3rd CC with BOB making him Kate's 7th owned or bred Champion Parson Russell Terrier! His daughter Zara followed suit with the RBCC & BPIB! What a day!

NATIONAL DOG SHOW - Zara BPIB, Brody 1st Open dog under Geoff Burnhill

CRUFTS - Saw a change of judge at the last minute. Harold Gay (Malsville) took over a huge entry from the scheduled judge, Paul Wilkinson. We started off by coming 2nd in Yearling dog with Brody (Alncroft Blackthorn) and then 1st in Puppy bitch with Zara. Kate then handled Cola (Ch Alncroft Tribute to Riplington) for the Collis family to 2nd in Open. In the final challenges, Zara won Best Puppy in Breed and Cola won the reserve BCC so a great day all-in-all!

MANCHESTER - A successful day out for Alncroft including Nicola Liddell & Sparky (Alncroft Arctik) winning Limit dog and baby Zara (Alncroft In Gold) winning BPIB and the reserve bitch CC at just 7 months old! Judge was Tom Johnston (Feldkirk).

BOSTON - Our first show of 2011 and we had a super day. Brody won Best Dog and BOS under judge David Hunt and 3rd in the Terrier/Toy/Utility Junior Stakes under Martin Philips, he was the highest placed terrier. Zara went one better than her LKA result and was Best Puppy In Breed and Reserve Best Bitch! Kate won the Adult Handling class too. Thank you to all judges concerned.

2010

LKA - The final show of 2010 and what a show it was! Brody came 2nd in a strong Open dog class, new baby Zara on her show debut won best puppy bitch and to top it all off Sally won Open bitch and the bitch CC giving her her Champion title, the 6th Parson Russell to do so for us. Many thanks to judge Brian Aubrey for a fantastic day.

PARSON RUSSELL TERRIER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW NOVEMBER 2010

We had a fantastic day at the Parent Club's annual Champ Show judged by Sheila Atter (Ridley). It was 'Alncroft's' first time out since July 2010. Kate handled Ch Alncroft Tribute to Riplington (Cola) for her owners, Di, Syd and Steph Collis (Riplington) to the bitch CC & Best In Show and then Best Veteran in Show with the only other dog we entered, Ch Alne Foxglove (Clover).

This was the 2nd time 'Cola' has won BIS at the Club Champ show and the 2nd time Clover has been successful in the veteran competition!

Thank you to the Collis family for asking me to handle Cola... it was an honour.

Show news very quiet from July - November 2010 as we've been on maternal duties... see Zara

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Nicola Liddell and Sparky (Alncroft Arctik) for winning their first 'big one' - the RCC at Scottish Kennel Club August 2010! We're very proud of you!

EAST OF ENGLAND - Brody (Alncroft Blackthorn) won the RCC under Eileen Needham (Titanium) at 12 months and 5 days!

WINDSOR - Brody won his 2nd CC with Best of Breed under Martin Phillips (Jaeva) just before his 1st birthday.

WELKS - Brody won his first CC with Best of Breed under Patrick Dooner (Jappatin) just before 10 months of age.

NATIONAL TERRIER - Brody came 2nd in the Pro Plan Pup of the Year Stakes aged just 9 months under Terrier Specialist Brian Rogers (Laroc).

CRUFTS - Nicola Liddell enjoyed a great first Crufts with her first ever show dog, Alncroft Arctik (Sparky), winning 2nd in a strong Yearling Class. Well done Nicola and Sparky! Nicola also won Best Puppy Bitch with her newest recruit, Jane's Lass (Fizz).

2009

LADIES KENNEL ASSOCIATION - (Max King) - Alncroft Everlong wins her 3rd RCC bringing her tally for 2009 to 2 CC's & 3 RCC's from the only 6 shows she attended.

PRTC Championship Show - (Jeff Luscott) - We had a great day at the parent club's 13th Championship Show. Starting off with Sally (Alncroft Everlong) winning a strong limit bitch class. Buzz (Ch Phantastic) made a great comeback after 18 months off by coming 2nd in an equally strong Open bitch class. Clover (Ch Alne Foxglove) then won her first Veteran bitch class.

Buzz went onto take the RCC and then beat the DCC winner for Reserve Best In show.

BOURNEMOUTH - (Alan Broadstock) - Alncroft Everlong (Sally) wins the reserve bitch challenge certificate.

Alncroft Everlong is confirmed as Dog World's Joint Top Leader Parson Russell Terrier (Halfway Leaders) 2009!

SOUTHERN COUNTIES - (Arthur Cuthbertson) - Sally won her 2nd CC from limit bitch. Kate relived her junior handling days exhibiting in the Coventry Ladies Adult Handling class under Johan J Juslin (Finland) and won, qualifying for the Final in 2010!

WELKS - WHAT A DAY!! Alncroft have a truly memorable day with three dogs from the same litter taking three of the four top awards. Sally won her first CC & with it Best Of Breed, Champion Alncroft Tribute to Riplington owned by Di, Syd and Steph Collis (Riplington) won the Reserve Bitch CC and Alncroft Hemlock of Morgandare, owned by Jess and Carol Lumbard won the Reserve Dog CC.

NATIONAL TERRIER - (Tom Johnston) Sally won the reserve bitch challenge certificate, Alncroft Hemlock won limit dog and Alncroft Arctik made his owner's, Nicola and Derek Liddell, very proud when he was placed 2nd in puppy dog and junior dog (qualifying him for Crufts 2010). Sparky is their first showdog and it was only their second championship show.

Champion Alncroft Tribute to Riplington is confirmed as being the Parson Russell Terrier Club's and Dog World's Top Parson Russell Terrier bitch in the UK for 2008!

2008

PARSON RUSSELL TERRIER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW - Alncroft Tribute to Riplington is a NEW CHAMPION! She won her 3rd CC and Best In Show on November 9th 2008 under PRTC President, Kevin Moore. Huge Congratulations to Cola, her owners, Di, Syd and Steph Collis (Riplington). We're all thrilled here at Alncroft! Well done to Steph who handled her to this brilliant win.

RICHMOND - (Alan Small) Alncroft Tribute to Riplington won her 2nd CC in September. Well done to Cola and her owners, Di, Syd and Steph Collis.

JULY - Amelie Smith born at home on the 1st July 2008 (her due date... I wish puppies were so predictable!). Pictured at her first show at 2 weeks old!

THREE COUNTIES - (Mark Allen) Alncroft Tribute to Riplington wins Best of Breed.

SOUTHERN COUNTIES - Congratulations to Alncroft Hemlock of Morgandare and his owners Carol & Jess Lumbard for winning the RDCC out of junior under judge Marja Talvitie.

We have now won Best of Breed at National Terrier on four occasions in the last four years... 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008!

CRUFTS - (Les Price) - Congratulations to Alncroft Hemlock at Morgandare and his owners Jess & Carol Lumbard for winning Best Puppy in Breed at this year's Crufts. Alncroft Everlong was 2nd in Puppy Bitch and their litter sister 'Alncroft Tribute', owned by Di, Syd and Steph Collis was 3rd in Yearling.

2007

RICHMOND (Jan Wood - Ardencote) ~ CONGRATULATIONS to Alncroft Tribute owned by Di, Syd and Steph Collis for winning Best Puppy bitch then Best Puppy in Breed, and to Alncroft Hemlock of Morgandare and his owner Jess Lumbard for winning Best Puppy Dog. This was Tribute and Hemlock's very first show!

DACHSHUND CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW ~ 112 Entries (Mrs Jean Blandford - Flaunden) ~ Anna wins her 3rd RCC in a fantastic entry of Mini Wires, handled by Zena Thorn-Andrews as we were house hunting!

SCOTTISH KENNEL CLUB ~ Syd wins Best Puppy In Breed at his first show under John Bunting aged 6 months!!

WELSH KENNEL CLUB ~ A 12 hour round trip in one day is made worthwhile when Buzz wins the CC and BOB under Tom Johnston (her 6th)

SELKIRK & DCS OPEN SHOW ~ Buzz wins not only Best of breed, but Terrier Group 1 and Best in Show.

NATIONAL TERRIER (Eleanor Bothwell) ~ Buzz wins her 4th BCC and BOB

CRUFTS ~ (Judge Mr R Bigland - Heythrop) - NEW CHAMPION! Buzz wins the Bitch Challenge Certificate, her 3rd, at 16 months old, thus making her our 5th Parson Russell Terrier Champion, owned or bred.

'Buzz' - Pacolito Phantastic at Alncroft is now confirmed as the joint winner of the Our Dogs/Pedigree Top Puppy Competition - all breeds!!

2006

Alncroft have a day trip out to the photographic studios used by Dogs Today Magazine. Buzz, Clover, Scout and Trout were used as models by the magazine for their feature on Parson Russells in their March 2007 issue! It was fantastic fun although exhausting!

Mindlen Brown Trout, co-owned with David Todd (and previously with Lesley Roberts) joins the Alncroft Ranks. 'Trout' is 2 and a half years old and will have his own page on this site shortly. He currently has 1 CC and 2 RCC's.

Jessica Anne Smith, a daughter for Matt and Kate was 'whelped' on the 2nd October 2006 at 12.20 hours! 6lbs and 6ozs, hopefully a junior handler in the making!

CITY OF BIRMINGHAM - Seven and a half month old 'Anna' wins strong minor puppy bitch class and the bitch reserve challenge certificate under judge Mrs Edna Cooper! Alncroft are taking a break from the showring for a few weeks for one fairly crucial member of the team to go on maternal duties!!!

WELSH KENNEL CLUB - NEW CHAMPION!! Kate handled Alne Little Vixen at Mindlen (owned by Mesdames L. & A. Roberts & Murray) to her 3rd and crowning Challenge Certificate under all-rounder Ferelith Somerfield. This means 'Lola' is Champion Alne Foxglove's first champion daughter. 'Buzz' wins her 9th Best Puppy in Breed out of 10 possibles ~ this will be her last outing as a puppy, bringing her tally of wins to 9 Best Puppy in Breed awards, two Challenge Certificates with Best of Breed and one Reserve Challenge Certificate, all under the age of 10 months!

BOURNEMOUTH - Nine & a half month old 'Buzz' wins her 2nd CC with Best of Breed & Best Puppy in Breed under all-rounder Frank Bothwell and Alne Little Vixen at Mindlen wins the reserve bitch CC (handled by Kate). 'Buzz' was also shortlisted in the Terrier Puppy Group under Peter Green.

HOUNDSHOW - Drakesleat Bahn Anna goes Best Puppy in Breed under Ann Kennedy at just over 6 and a half months old.

LEEDS - Buzz wins her 7th BPIB and the reserve bitch Challenge Certificate under all-rounder Les Aspin.

EAST OF ENGLAND - Buzz, won her first Challenge Certificate & Best of Breed under breed specialist Lesley Roberts. This follows hot on the heels of her 5 Best Puppy in breed awards.

PAIGNTON - "Drakesleat Bahn Anna" won Best Puppy Bitch at her first show. This was our first time in the Miniature Wire-haired Dachshund ring so we were especially pleased with her. Thank you to everyone around the breed ring who made us feel so welcome!
